A Glimpse into Viet Nam: 5 Must-See Destinations

Sai Gon and Ha Noi are two of the most prominent cities in Viet Nam and are probably the first cities people think and hear about when referencing the country. But there are plenty of hidden gems throughout all of Viet Nam that are a traveler’s must-see in exploring the beauty and multiplicity of Viet Nam. Here are a few hot spots.

Sai Gon and Ha Noi are two of the most prominent cities in Viet Nam and are probably the first cities people think and hear about when referencing the country. However, have you heard of other places in Vietnam?! There are plenty of hidden gems throughout all of Viet Nam that are a traveler’s must-see in exploring the beauty and multiplicity of Vietnam. Here I will discuss a few hot spots.

1. Sa Pa

Sa Pa is definitely the highlight of the northwest region of Viet Nam. In this beautiful valley, you can take a peek into the life of the indigenous H’mong and Dzao peoples. Be sure to go out at night! The H’mong people have a night ritual and mating dance which is fun and entertaining. Also, the luscious valley and miles of greenery will take your breath away. My advice for the best hiking experience? Ask the children to be your tour guide. They know the land well and might take you around if you buy their trinkets!

2. Da Lat

Da Lat is a completely different view of Viet Nam. The architecture and culture will make you feel like you are in the French Alps. It is unusually cool for Viet Nam, so be sure to bring a jacket if you plan on walking around. But if you’re out of luck, not to worry. Da Lat Market is a swap meet style market where you can buy souvenirs to clothing. My personal favorite spot was the Valley of Love. Also visit the Truc Lam Pagoda by cable car, Bao Dai’s summer palace, and Xuan Huong Lake by boat.

3. Tuy Hoa

Tuy Hoa is a town nestled between the Chap Chai Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. I am a bit biased because this is my hometown, but that’s not to say that there aren’t things to do! Take a hike up to the Cham Ruins, a stroll to the beach, or just walk around town for the delicious food and the extensive shopping. This is a great city to relax in with the copious foods and the hospitable people.

4. Vinh Ha Long

Often nicknamed the 8th wonder of the world, this “mystical landscape” is filled with spectacular views and places to explore. Take a cruise on the Bay and enjoy the thousands of islands that appear above the Tonkin Gulf. Explore the beautifully lit caves and hike around the hills. Take a trip nearby to Cat Ba Island to hike, feast, and relax. Want more on this destination? Take a peek at this video! http://www.youtube.com/user/OneVietnamNetwork#p/u/0/dgRU9Elq4uc

5. Nha Trang

Nha Trang is a not only a resort town for travelers to enjoy a 5 star experience, but it is also a bustling city for the Vietnamese natives. I especially loved biking around town, so be sure to rent or borrow one to stroll around the beautiful beaches. Enjoy a day at the spa, tan on the beach, island hop and scuba dive, and enjoy the dynamic nightlife Nha Trang has to offer.

James is being bias… but I also think Da Lat is beautiful. Especially Da Lat girls, they have that elegant and shy look.
