Brian Luong

Brian currently is enrolled in the DMD-MBA joint degree program at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to Harvard, Brian attended UC Irvine. At UCI, he conducted research in toxicology, specifically the effects of chemotherapeutic agents on human granulosa cells, the results of which were published in a journal. Anh Ton

Anh is a recent graduate of some university in some city in Northern California with a reputation for being both left-leaning and playing host to the guy who authored the infamous Bush Torture Memos. Anh suffers from chronic writer’s block and a proclivity for self-deprecation. On occasions wherein she is able to overcome both these ailments, she can usually be found evaluating her own existence; attempting to articulate her thoughts on life, the universe, and everything (especially in relation to the Vietnamese community for this blog); or walking the dog. James H. Bao

James Bao is the co-founder and Executive Director of OneVietnam Network, Vietnam Talking Point’s parent organization. Previously, James was a financial analyst covering the technology, telecommunications, and media space. James is an alumni of UC Berkeley with a degree in Business Administration. [Contact]
Jennie is a student enrolled at UC Berkeley pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Economics and Policy and a B.A. in Theater and Performance Studies. She holds a variety of interests ranging from economic development to theater in the Vietnamese community. Her broad interests have led her to work on several Vietnamese culture shows as director and assistant producer, in addition to various theatre companies in development and technology. [Contact]
Nguyen Nguyen, PharmD

Nguyen is a pharmacist currently working at a teaching hospital in Los Angeles, CA. Her broad interests in health related issues include advancing public health and working to reduce health disparities through patient advocacy and policies changes. In addition, Nguyen also enjoys engaging discussions on politics, culture, food and travel. One of the main reasons she joined OVN and VTP is to help build a strong and empowered global Vietnamese community. In the past, Nguyen served as president of the Vietnamese Student Association and has been active in the Vietnamese community both in Southern California and the Bay Area. Nguyen is a graduate of UC San Diego (Thurgood Marshall College), with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. She received her Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) at UC San Francisco School of Pharmacy and a Masters of Public Health (MPH) at UC Berkeley School of Public Health.
Daniel Hoang

Daniel is an incoming first year law student at UC Hastings. He graduated from Berkeley with a B.A. in English (something he feels he is finally putting to good use after a few years of vocational and spiritual meandering). He enjoys coffee, streetside cafes, balconies, cities with character, travelling, and excellent acoustic covers. Also an aspiring polyglot.
Jenny K. Dang

Jenny graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and is currently working in healthcare administrative management. On the side, she also authors novels influenced by Louis Cha and Gu Long’s classic works. As Community Manager at OneVietnam Network, she hopes to promote a sense of community amongst the population and raise awareness of as well as engage the populace to participate in worthwhile causes. An began volunteering at a young age and thrives on non-profit work. As a child, the trips she took to Vietnam taught her the value of humanitarianism. After completing her studies in Psychology at CSU Long Beach, she relocated to New York City where she rediscovered her love for journalism and writing. Olivia Hoang

Olivia loves all things Asian and can often be found in boba shops shooting the breeze with friends. She graduated from UC San Diego with a B.A. in Economics and is an accountant turned copywriter, with a penchant for feature writing. Forever questioning things, there is nothing she loves more than to articulate her curiosity and findings on paper and through conversations with friends.
Vincent Trinh

Vincent Trinh is currently enrolled as a student at University of California Davis, pursuing a B.A. in English. He was born at a refugee camp in Galang, Indonesia and came to the states at the age of 1, being the first generation Vietnamese American in the family. Vincent holds a great deal of interest ranging from producing short films, indie bands, post-modern fiction, to being an avid amateur boxer. His goal after college is to apply to either journalism or film school. Vincent is also notorious for making a mean dish of pasta carbonara.
Chim was bred in Berkeley, CA, has lived in Viet Nam since 2006, splitting his time between Ha Noi and thanh pho Ho Chi Minh (Sai Gon). He was a featured poet on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, a Collegiate National Poetry Slam champion, a UC Berkeley Theatre Rice performer/producer and is now an iOS developer, a project manager and educator. Uyen is an economic consultant turned social entrepreneur. She is a co-founder of OneVietnam Network and currently serves as its business development director. She lives in San Francisco and enjoys every minute in the beautiful city. Uyen graduated Cum Laude from UC Berkeley with a B.S. in Economics.
