Fake & Real Products in Vietnam

11.18.09 – According to VnExpress.net, in a consumer product show case in HCM city a couple months ago, many consumers were exposed with many products and their counterfeits at one of the show case stalls. As a consumer, I see this as a problem in Vietnam that could cause fatal harms to Vietnamese consumers, especially for those who consume pharmaceutical products. I see a need for consumer report agencies to assist consumers in choosing and buying safe products. I, however, do not think that these agencies should be ran by government department but by private institutions due to incentive structures. Maybe this is a good chance for some one to start an ethical consumer report business in Vietnam, and I do hope such industry will grow to support the growing economy.

Following are some pictures of real and fake products in Vietnam. “Hang Gia” represents fake product, where as “Hang That” represents real product. Courtesy of VnExpress.net:

Hey Thanks Neil, for sharing the information on counterfeit. Really interesting and informative.
In the market for every one  “Hang That” product there are 10 “Hang Gia”.Counterfeiting is more pharmaceutical industry compared to other industry. This type of counterfeit can be avoided by adopting the techonology or Anti-counterfeiting.I found a site http://www.esealinc.com which people are providing the best solution for counterfeiting using the technology.
