I had a quad band phone from Verizon and it worked well in Vietnam. It worked well on the Verizon SIM and on a SIM card from Viettel. One tip, before you leave the states, call Verizon and request the Global Data Plan. It's an additional $10 or something but gives you unlimited data while roaming. Totally worth it.
