Asian Models Invade New York Fashion Week

February 23, 2011 by Jennie Le Leave a Comment

Major magazines and ad campaigns have been featuring more and more Asian models lately. New York Fashion Week, which took place from February 9 t0 17, was no different. With the popularity of Asian models on print growing, the fashion shows exemplified greater demand for Asian faces on the runway.

Fashion shows have often featured a “token Asian” in the past, but last week over 40 Asian models of both genders walked the runways. With milestones–like the first Asian model on the Victoria Secret’s runway and the first Asian male model as the face of Louis Vuitton–checking off, I think it’s safe to say that Asian faces are making their way to the media!
