Some unexpected news out of “Happyland.”

Joe Jackson, father of late pop legend Michael Jackson, recently announced that he has invested in a two billion dollar hotel-entertainment complex in Ben Luc District.  The project, called “Happyland,” is set to open in 2014.

According to Vietnam Net, “Happyland will boast many different constructions such as a theme park, resorts, hotels, high class villas, simulated cities, among others.”  It is also being touted as the largest tourism initiative in Southeast Asia and expects to see an annual 14 million visitors after its opening.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Jackson stated he decided to participate in the project as a way to continue his son’s legacy: “[Michael] lived to make people happy and I am proud to maintain that, making Vietnamese people happier.”

“My wish is to promote this project to all friends across the world so that they understand more about your country,” he further commented.

What are your views about the forthcoming Happyland?  At the OneVietnam.org discussion boards, some of our members have thrown suspicion on Jackson’s venture, questioning if the construction of Happyland, a stated tourist attraction, can actually make the people of Vietnam any happier and promote an accurate representation of the country.  Others have suggested that Happyland might open up new jobs and invite further foreign investment.  What are your thoughts?  Could this even be a clever marketing strategy by the Khang Thong Group, the minds behind Happyland, to stir up international interests three years in advance?  What are your thoughts?

There goes the Ben Luc District. “Happyland” won’t yield happiness. What it will do is destroy the area. The “annual 14 million visitors” will create tourist and traffic congestions, pollutions, and disrupt the inhabitants of the area. Sounds like another instance of greed and exploitation that’s destroying Vietnam and its people.

You bastard. I have been the victim of family abuse…both sexual and mental. I think you are the biggest piece of shit the world has turned out. Your daughters and sons have made the best music this world has known to date….all you can think about is how you can profit over that.

Why not think about the years of traumatic abuse they all suffered at your hands? YOU BASTARD. You never cared one damned red cent about any of them except the money they could provide to line your wallet. SHAME ON YOU!!!!

In the midst of what should be your family’s biggest hurt…you introduce a new cologne/perfume line and have yet to name the new ice cream you plan to “show the world.” The rest of us truly recognize the talent of your children and want nothing but the best for them.

You, however, want more money. You do not deserve the dirt on the bottom of their feet. You low-life scum.
