A young fashion designer in Vietnam by the name of Huy Vo released his latest creation today: a diamond and ruby encrusted satin wedding gown. This gown has already begun to catch the eyes of wedding fashion experts across the web, as seen on countless Twitter and blog posts. Compared to significantly more expensive designer wedding gowns like the $1.5 million Swarovski crystal and the $250,000 platinum encrusted dresses, Mr. Vo’s gown lavishly displays 222 diamonds and 100 red rubies and at a value price of $117,000. At this price, his gown was declared the most expensive bridal gown in Vietnam.

I think Vietnamese fashion has evolved tremendously in the last few years. It has come a long way from the early 90s, when the country was much poorer than now. Although currently there is a lot of influences from other Asian countries such as Korea and Taiwan … I can’t wait for Vietnamese fashion to develop an identity of its own.
